South Korea - Incheon International Airport: quick tour for visitors

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has developed a special half-day tour program that allows visitors to explore nearby sites of interest instead of wasting the hours on an airport bench. The tour will be given free of charge until the end of 2004, and will change into a paid tour by next year.

China - Beijing Capital International Airport : gate closing time changed

7 Jun 2004: Runways in the Beijing Capital International Airport are undergoing renovations from 25 May 2004 to 18 July 2004. In order to keep flights departing on time, passengers are requested to check in earlier according to the follows:

Domestic flights : 105 - 45 minutes prior to flight departure;
International flights 135 - 60 minutes prior to flight departure.

Japan - New Visa Policy for entering Japan

Effective from 01 Apr 2004, Hong Kong citizens holding HKSAR passports or holding BNO passports may visit Japan for up to 90 days without visa.

Indonesia - New Visa Policy for entering Indonesia

Effective from 01 Feb 2004, holders of passport from 11 countries will be visa-free for 30 days. These countries are Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hong Kong SAR (HKSAR passort holders only), Macau SAR, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Passport holders for a further 21 countries will be able to apply for a visa on arrival. These countries are Australia, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, South Korea, Switzerland, South Africa, Taiwan, the UK and the US. The visa on arrival costs USD25 for a 30-day visit.

This new policy is applicable to all visitors arriving at the airports in Bali, Jakarta, Medan, Manado and Padang, as well as the seaports of Batam, Sibolga, Belawan, Jakarta, Surabaya and Jayapura.

Visitors from other countries will have to apply for a visa in their nearest Indonesia embassies and consulates before going to Indonesia.

Hong Kong British National overseas (BNO) passport holders are required to apply for a visa at The Indonesian Consulate General Hong Kong.

Taiwan - Valid passports required for entering Taiwan

Visitors of Hong Kong and Macau residents to Taiwan must have HKSAR or BN(O) passports which are valid for at least six months irrespective of whether they already have an Entry Permit or are to apply for a Temporary Entry Permit upon arrival.

Taiwan - 14 Days Taiwan Landing Visa

Effective 12 June 2002, passengers born in Hong Kong holding HKSAR or BNO passport (Passports must have at least 6 months validity beyond the stay in Taiwan.) can apply a 14 days landing visa upon arrival at Taipei International Airport or Kaohsiung International Airport.
