 BA - Ticketing Time Limit  (update on 6 Mar 2004)

For all BA restricted economy classes:

Reservations made Ticket deadline will be
- More than 3 days before departure - 3 days after booking made or 3 days before departure whichever is the earliest
- Within 3 days of departure - Same day before 17:00
     

 BA - Skyflyer Solo Service  (update on 21 Jul 2003)

Effective 01 August 2003, British Airways will introduce a charge for Unaccompanied Minors (UMs). Bookings for an unaccompanied minor to fly with British Airways will be charged a supplement of NUC50.00 equivalent to approximately HKD400 for each single journey. For return journeys, the supplement will be NUC100.00 or approximately HKD800.

 KL - Fuel Surcharge  (update on 28 Feb 2003)

Effective 01 March 2003, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will introduce a fuel surcharge on tickets issued on/after 01 March 2003. European flights will take on a surcharge of USD5 for each one-way flight and intercontinental flights will have a USD10 surcharge per one-way flight. It is valid for all fare types, including chind and infant fares, and award tickets, etc.

Calculation of the fuel surcharge as follows:

e.g. HKG-X/AMS-FRA-X/AMS-HKG, USD 20 (equiv. to HKD 156) if no voluntary stopover in AMS.
e.g. HKG-X/AMS-FRA-AMS-HKG, USD 25 (equiv. to HKD 195) if voluntary stopover in AMS in either direction.

 KA/CZ/CJ/MF/XO - Fuel Surcharge  (update on 15 Feb 2003)

Effective 15 February 2003, a fuel surcharge of CNY70 per sector will be levied on air tickets issued on/after 15 February 2003 for travel commencing from Inland China to Hong Kong SAR.

 LH - Service fees will be charged by Lufthansa  (update on 31 Dec 2002)

Service fees will be charged at Lufthansa City Centre with effect from now.

 KA/MU- Shanghai International Flights to operate to Pudong International Airport (update on 21 Oct 2002)

With effect from 27 October 2002, all Dragonair (KA) flights and China Eastern Airlines (MU) flights to and from Shanghai will operate out of Pudong International Airport (PVG).

 KA/PR- Revised Airport Security Surcharge (update on 30 Apr 2002)

With effect from 7 May 2002, the Hong Kong Security Service Charge will be revised to HKD33. Details are as follows:
  • For tickets issued or reissued on/after 7 May 2002, HKD33 or applicable difference shall be collected.
  • The revised charge applies to ALL passengers regardless of fare type (ie, infants etc) and class of travel. 

 CX- Airport Security Surcharge (update on 25 Apr 2002)

Effective from 7 May 2002, Cathay Pacific will collect the Airport Security Surcharge HKD13 on behalf of The Airport Authority Hong Kong. The additional HKD13 surcharge will be included in the current airline Security Service Charge of HKD20 and thus the new Security Surcharge becomes HKD33. This new charge will apply to all tickets issued and reissued on / after 7 May 2002 and for travel on / after the same date. All departing and connecting passengers exiting Hong Kong, including infants will be subject to this charge. The only exception will be the same flight transit passengers.

 TG- In Town Check-In (update on 31 Jan 2002)

Effective from 1 February 2002, one-day advance check in facility will be available from 14:00hr. at Hong Kong and Kowloon In-Town check in for passenger on TG603 (Hong Kong- Bangkok) departure time 08:00hr. The facility is available only for individual passenger with confirmed reservation and must travel on Airport Express train to the airport. Passenger is also required to leave telephone contact at time of check in.

 KA/CA/MU/SZ/CZ/CJ/WH- Fuel Surcharge to be Uplifted (update on 10 Jan 2002)

Effective from 16 January 2002, fuel surcharge on Dragonair, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southwest Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Northern Airlines and China Northwest Airlines flights between Hong Kong and Mainland China will be uplifted. The uplifting is applicable for travels commencing on/after 16 January 2002.

 BA- Withdrawal of services between Hong Kong - Manila & Taipei (update on 15 Dec 2001)

British Airways announced that their services between Hong Kong to Manila and v.v., Hong Kong to Taipei and v.v. will be terminated with effect from 4 March 2002. All tickets issued on or before 11 Dec 2001, the following conditions would be applied:
  • Unused Ticket:
    - Passenger can obtain a full refund without any penalty.
    - Ticket can be endorsed to any carrier with direct services on the cancelled sector.
  • Partially used ticket:
    - Refund will be the difference between the fare paid and the journey travelled.
    - Ticket can be endorsed to oneworld carriers with direct services on the cancelled sector.

 AY- Finnair New Route between Hong Kong and Helsinki (update on 15 Dec 2001)

Finnair, the National carrier of Finland, will start a new route between Hong Kong and Helsinki from 8 February 2002. The new route will be operated via Bangkok three times a week every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

 CX - Cathay Pacific Senior Discounts

Cathay Pacific offers a 50% discount on "Economy Class" tickets to the residents of Hong Kong aged 65 or above. Tickets must be issued on or before 30 November 2001 and depart Hong Kong on or before 28 February 2002. This discount is applicable when the fare is associated with a child discount.

 BA - Chinese Visitors Services

British Airways offers Visitors Services to provide special customer care to passengers when travelling on British Airways flights to and from Hong Kong. They are able to converse in Chinese. Utmost care is taken to ensure that passengers are met and assisted on arrival and taken care of until he/she leaves. Assistance is provided at Arrivals, Immigration, Baggage Collection and Customs and the same service is available for departures. This complimentary service needs to be pre-booked.

 KA - FREE Upgrade to First Class for Kaohsiung A330 Operations

From 01 October 2001 to 16 December 2001 (departure date basis), passengers flying on Dragonair Kaohsiung A330 flights will enjoy FREE upgrade to First Class for passengers paying Business Class fares.

Remarks:
  • SSS is available only to passengers travelling on Singapore Airline (SQ) or SilkAir (MI).
  • SSS is not available for intra-Asean travel, i.e., travel within Asean countries (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), even stopover at Singapore, SSS is unavailable.
  • Other than country of origin travel has to be routed to another point beyond Singapore on SQ or MI. However, for the Singapore/Kuala Lumpur sector, it must be in conjunction with long-haul journey beyond Singapore.
  • SSS must be purchased at the same time as issuance for air tickets.
  • Passsengers can purchase only one SSS during each round trip journey.
  • SSS is not available to:
    • Unaccompanied minors or children below 16 years of age and travelling alone;
    • Frequent Flyer Programme and KrisFlyer passengers on redemption travel;
    • Passengers travelling on rebated/discounted industry travel or free air tickets.

 CO - Revised HKG-NYC Nonstop Flight Schedule

Continental Airlines, effective from 02 October 2001, has revised timetable for 4 flights per week for air service between Hong Kong and New York's Newark International Airport.
